The New Balance Comeback

New Balances, created in 1906, have played a major role in athletic footwear over the years. The name originates from the design, intending to provide arch support, balance, and overall comfort for the wearer.

William J. Riley, the founder of New Balance Arch Support Company, designed the shoes. He used the science of how chickens balance. This science focuses on the three points of a chicken's feet. He incorporated this knowledge into the shoe's technology.

Development

The brand has developed extensively over the years, rising more and more in popularity as time went on. A key time for this brand was the 1970s. During this decade, many people wore colorful low-top running shoes. The popularity of running grew into the 1980s.

In the 1980s, New Balance was known for its popular track shoe, especially the 574 model. As this model became popular, the 990 was released at the end of the decade. It was the brand's most expensive shoe at $100.

Gen Z

In the 1990s, New Balances became popular in fashion. They were especially embraced by the hip-hop scene. This brand is one of the most famous vintage shoe brands. Younger generations are often attracted to chunkier shoe styles.

This brand started as a sports shoe. However, New Balances have become popular in many homes as streetwear. Gen Z keeps embracing the “dad shoe” trend.

Shoe Palace

New Balance is one of the most recognizable and well-respected brands in the shoe and fashion communities. Shoe Palace has always had a strong and collaborative relationship with NB. They offer many products for men, women, and children. This makes them a great partner for retailers.

New Balance has been a staple at Shoe Palace stores, and easily one of our most asked for brands, from the start. New Balance is not slowing down. They have a partnership with stars Kawhi Leonard, Shohei Ohtani, and Cooper Flagg.

The popularity of styles like the 574, 327, 991, and 997 is rising. Shoe Palace looks forward to a bright and collaborative future with New Balance.
